About the game

Carcassonne Labyrinth fuses two classic games into one: the sliding maze of Labyrinth and the tile-laying city-building of Carcassonne. Players push tiles to reshape the maze in search of hidden treasure, then use any treasure they collect, along with tiles pushed out of the layout, to build roads and cities in the Carcassonne style. It rewards whoever navigates the shifting maze most cleverly, blending forty years of Labyrinth with twenty-five years of Carcassonne into something new.

Hobbli's Notes

Carcassonne Labyrinth is a genuinely clever mashup, grafting the sliding-maze mechanism of the classic Labyrinth game onto Carcassonne's tile-laying and city-building. Pushing tiles to reshape the maze while also angling to complete roads and cities gives familiar Carcassonne fans a fresh puzzle to chew on, and the two systems mesh more naturally than a crossover like this has any right to. It leans more toward puzzle-solving than the freeform tile-laying of the original Carcassonne, so purists looking for that exact experience may find this a different beast.

What we like

  • Cleverly fuses two beloved classics into a genuinely fresh puzzle.
  • Sliding-maze mechanism adds tactile, tension-filled decision-making.
  • Accessible rules make it easy to teach to Carcassonne newcomers.
  • Modular board keeps repeat plays feeling different each time.

Keep in mind

  • Puzzle-focused design departs from the freeform feel of classic Carcassonne.
  • Sliding-tile mechanism can create some frustration when treasure gets pushed out of reach.
  • Solo and low player counts may feel less tense than a full table.

Who it's for

Great for Carcassonne fans and families looking for a fresh maze-and-tile-laying puzzle, ages 8+, in groups of 1-4.
