About the game

Kingdomino Origins takes the beloved tile-drafting formula of Kingdomino back to prehistoric times, adding fire, volcanoes, resources, and cavemen to the mix. Choose from three game modes of increasing complexity, layering new scoring opportunities onto the classic domino-drafting core. Majority control of resources brings cavemen to your territory, each offering its own path to points. It's a satisfying evolution for fans of the original who want more depth without losing its accessible spirit.

Hobbli's Notes

Kingdomino Origins is a lovely expansion of an already great formula: the modular complexity levels mean you can dial the depth up or down depending on your group. Bruno Cathala keeps the core drafting tension intact while giving veteran players plenty of new toys. A worthy companion, if not quite as tight, as the original.

What we like

  • Three scalable game modes suit different skill levels and groups.
  • Retains the elegant, easy-to-learn drafting core of Kingdomino.
  • New resource and caveman systems add welcome strategic depth.
  • Quick 40-minute playtime keeps sessions brisk.

Keep in mind

  • Adds complexity that may dilute the original's simplicity for some.
  • Not required for original Kingdomino owners, so appeal may be niche.
  • Component overhead is higher than the base game.

Who it's for

Great for families (8+) in groups of 2-4 who enjoyed Kingdomino and want extra depth and variety.
