About the game
Blokus Trigon takes the beloved Blokus formula and reshapes it around a hexagonal board of 486 triangles. Each player races to place all of their triangular pieces, scoring by covering as much territory as possible while blocking opponents' expansion. The switch from squares to triangles changes the geometry puzzle in subtle but meaningful ways, and a solitaire variant lets one player try to place every piece in a single sitting. It's a sharp, quick abstract strategy game for two to four players.
Hobbli's Notes
If you already love Blokus, Trigon's triangular twist offers a genuinely fresh spatial puzzle rather than a reskin. It's just as approachable for families while still giving abstract-game fans something to chew on.
What we like
- Easy to learn rules with genuine spatial strategy depth.
- Quick 20-minute playtime suits filler slots and family game nights.
- The triangular board offers a fresh puzzle compared to the original Blokus.
- Solitaire variant adds replayability for solo players.
Keep in mind
- Purely abstract theme may not appeal to players wanting narrative or immersion.
- Can feel repetitive after many plays without variant rules.
- Blocking-heavy endgames can create some player elimination-like frustration.
Who it's for
Families and abstract-strategy fans aged 7 and up, 2 to 4 players, for quick 20-minute sessions.
