About the game

Here I Stand is an epic card-driven game covering the political and religious upheaval of Reformation-era Europe. Up to six players take command of major 16th-century powers, Ottomans, Habsburgs, English, French, Papacy, and Protestants, each pursuing a unique path to victory. Secret diplomacy, alliance-building, and backstabbing unfold away from the table during dedicated negotiation phases. This is a sprawling campaign experience that can run a full day or more with the complete cast of players.

Hobbli's Notes

This is one of the crown jewels of the card-driven wargame genre for groups willing to commit serious time to it. The negotiation phase is what elevates Here I Stand beyond a typical wargame: half the drama happens in whispered side deals before a single card is played. It's not something to bring out casually; this is a full-day event that rewards a dedicated, patient group. For six dedicated history buffs, few games deliver this much sustained tension.
