About the game

In Looot, you lead a band of Vikings gathering resources and capturing buildings to grow your fjord settlement. On the shared board, you'll claim territory and collect tiles representing resources, buildings, and objectives; on your personal board, you'll arrange those tiles to unlock victory points. The dual-placement structure rewards careful optimization as you plan the best combinations for your growing village. Fill your longships, complete construction projects, and rack up points to be crowned Jarl of the Vikings. It's a clever, puzzly race for resources and efficient village building.

Hobbli's Notes

Looot's dual-board structure - claiming tiles on a shared map, then optimizing them on your own board - creates a satisfying two-layered puzzle. The Viking theme is a fun backdrop for what is at heart a tight tile-placement optimization game. As a newer release, it hasn't yet built a long track record, so expect some uncertainty about long-term staying power. Fans of network-building and tile-placement Euros should find plenty to enjoy here.

What we like

  • Clever dual shared-board and personal-board design.
  • Satisfying tile-placement optimization puzzle.
  • Fun Viking theme with once-per-game abilities for variety.
  • Moderate 35-minute playtime keeps sessions brisk.

Keep in mind

  • As a newer release, long-term replay value is unproven.
  • Personal board optimization may create some downtime for others.
  • May feel similar to other tile-placement Euros on the market.

Who it's for

Good for strategy-minded gamers aged 10+ who enjoy tile placement and network building, playing with 2-4 players.
