About the game
Catan Card Game reimagines the world of Catan as a two-player card game centered on rotating resource cards and stacks of expansion cards. Players build villages, roads, and cities using six resources, gaining victory points as their settlements grow, while an event die triggers bonuses, attacks, or special occurrences each turn. Before play, participants draft cards from a chosen expansion stack, adding civic improvements and action cards that shape their strategy. The first player to reach twelve victory points wins.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli sees this as a clever, portable spin on the Catan formula for two players: the resource-rotation mechanic is a neat trick, though it feels quite different from the classic Settlers of Catan board game experience.
What we like
- Distills Catan's resource strategy into a portable two-player format.
- Expansion card stacks add variable strategic paths.
- Quick setup thanks to the rotating resource card system.
- Appeals strongly to existing Catan fans wanting a duel format.
Keep in mind
- Plays quite differently from the original Settlers of Catan.
- Limited strictly to two players.
- Card interactions and rules can feel fiddly for newcomers.
Who it's for
Good for Catan fans and two-player strategy gamers aged 10+ looking for a compact card-based alternative to the classic board game.
