About the game
Jaipur puts you in the sandals of a merchant in the capital of Rajasthan, competing against a single rival to win the favor of the Maharaja. On your turn you either take cards from a shared market or sell off your goods for chips whose value shrinks over time, all while managing a herd of camels that can't be sold but are essential for trading. It's a fast, tense, push-your-luck card game built entirely for two players.
Hobbli's Notes
Jaipur remains one of the best two-player card games ever designed. Every decision, whether to grab now or wait for a bigger payout, carries real weight, and a full game flies by in half an hour. It's the perfect small-box game to keep in a bag for any occasion.
What we like
- Extremely quick to teach and to play, usually under 30 minutes.
- Every turn presents a genuine risk-versus-reward decision.
- Designed specifically for two players, so it never feels compromised.
- Small box makes it perfect for travel.
- Variable market setup keeps repeated plays feeling fresh.
Keep in mind
- Strictly limited to exactly two players.
- Can start to feel repetitive after many plays in a row.
- Card draw luck can meaningfully swing a round's outcome.
Who it's for
Ideal for couples or any two players ages 10 and up who want a quick, tense trading game, from casual players to serious strategists.
