About the game
In Last Bastion, one to four heroes team up to defend an ancient fortress against relentless waves of monstrous hordes sent by the Baleful Queen. Using dice rolling and a modular board that recreates the fortress's ramparts, players hold each objective point as long as they can, falling back and regrouping when the line breaks. Variable player powers and set-up ensure every siege plays out differently. It's a tense, fully cooperative fight for survival where the group wins or loses together.
Hobbli's Notes
Last Bastion delivers exactly the kind of last-stand tension its name promises, with dice-driven combat that keeps you making tough triage decisions round after round. The modular board and variable set-up give it solid replay value for a game this size. It leans more toward a satisfying tactical puzzle than a story-rich campaign, so don't expect deep narrative arcs between sieges.
What we like
- Fully cooperative play encourages teamwork and shared strategy.
- Modular board and variable setup keep each siege feeling fresh.
- Solo mode lets one player experience the full defense.
- Dice-rolling combat creates tense, unpredictable moments.
Keep in mind
- Player elimination can leave defeated heroes waiting on the sidelines.
- Heavy dice dependence may frustrate players who prefer pure strategy.
- Cooperative games like this can suffer from a dominant player quarterbacking decisions.
Who it's for
Best for fans of cooperative dungeon-defense games, ages 14 and up, playing in groups of 2-4 who enjoy tense, dice-driven tactical decisions.
