About the game
Castle Panic is a cooperative fantasy tower-defense game where 1 to 6 players work together to defend a castle at the center of the board from monsters marching out of the surrounding forest. Players trade cards, hit and slay monsters, and coordinate tactics to keep the castle towers standing, winning or losing as a group: though only one player earns the title of Master Slayer. It's an accessible light tactical game balancing teamwork against individual glory.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editors consider this a beloved gateway co-op: simple enough to teach in minutes, with just enough of a semi-competitive edge to keep everyone invested to the last tower.
What we like
- Simple, approachable rules great for cooperative-game newcomers.
- Semi-cooperative twist keeps every player personally invested.
- Scales well from solo play up to six players.
- Fast 60-minute playtime with escalating tension.
Keep in mind
- Limited strategic depth for veteran gamers.
- Monster draws can feel very luck-driven.
- Card trading can create some analysis paralysis in larger groups.
Who it's for
Families and cooperative-game newcomers; ages 8+, groups of 1-6, a great gateway co-op.
