About the game

Ecos: First Continent imagines an alternate Earth taking shape, with players acting as primal forces of nature sculpting mountains, jungles, rivers, and savanna. Each round, element tokens are revealed simultaneously, letting every player complete cards in their tableau and shape the growing continent according to their own vision. Unused elements convert into energy, cards, or additions to your tableau, giving you flexible paths to build toward your ecological goals. Designed by John D. Clair (Mystic Vale, Space Base), it's a clever simultaneous-play tile-and-tableau game about building a living world.

Hobbli's Notes

Ecos stands out for its simultaneous-play structure: everyone acts on the same revealed elements at once, which keeps downtime refreshingly low for a game this thematic. Watching the continent physically take shape on the table, tile by tile, gives real satisfaction as your ecosystem grows. It's a lovely, laid-back nature-building game, though the bingo-style simultaneous resolution can feel a touch fiddly to track at first.

What we like

  • Simultaneous action selection keeps downtime low even with six players.
  • Watching the continent physically grow is visually satisfying.
  • Flexible tableau-building supports multiple viable strategies.
  • Scales unusually well across a wide player-count range.

Keep in mind

  • Simultaneous resolution can feel fiddly to track at first.
  • Bingo-style element matching may feel abstract compared to the nature theme.
  • Modular tile variety means setup can take a little longer.

Who it's for
