About the game
The Ark of the Covenant reworks the classic Carcassonne formula around a biblical theme, as players lay tiles to build cities, roads, flocks, and temples across the growing landscape. New twists include oases that boost road scoring, a one-time-use prophet that doubles a completed city's value, simplified field scoring based on sheep and wolves, and a unique temple-scoring mechanism. Players can also move the Ark itself along the tiles to score points from the followers it passes. Designed for 2-5 players in about 30 minutes, it plays out through familiar tile-laying and area-majority mechanics.
Hobbli's Notes
A pleasant reskin for Carcassonne fans that adds a handful of clever new scoring wrinkles like the Ark and the prophet. It won't surprise players who already own the base game, but the biblical theme and quick 30-minute runtime make it an easy family pick.
What we like
- Familiar, accessible tile-laying gameplay for Carcassonne fans.
- Distinctive biblical theme adds fresh flavor.
- Quick 30-minute playtime.
- Simple rules make it easy to teach newcomers.
Keep in mind
- Heavily derivative of Carcassonne with limited new mechanics.

- Strategic depth is largely inherited from the base system.
Who it's for
