About the game
Castell brings the Catalan tradition of human towers to the tabletop, as players build a team of castellers and train them to construct increasingly impressive formations. Over ten rounds, you'll recruit castellers from across Catalonia, teach them new skills, and perform at regional festivals to score points. Movement and pattern-building mechanics represent the literal construction of each tower, from base to top. Tailoring your performances to each festival's audience boosts your final score. It supports 2 to 4 players in about 90 minutes.
Hobbli's Notes
Castell stands out for bringing a genuinely unique and culturally specific theme to the table, and the tower pattern-building mechanic captures the feel of the real tradition surprisingly well. It's a lesser-known release, so community feedback and long-term replay data are still limited. The recruiting and skill-training loop gives a satisfying sense of team progression across the game. A charming choice for players looking for something off the beaten path.
