About the game
The Resistance: Avalon is a social deduction game pitting the forces of Good against a hidden minority of Evil infiltrators among King Arthur's knights. Good players attempt to complete quests while Evil secretly sabotages them, all while Merlin subtly guides allies without revealing his own identity. Bluffing, accusation, and careful reading of your fellow players are the only tools you have to root out the traitors - or hide among them.
Hobbli's Notes
Avalon remains a top pick for social deduction night because the Merlin/Assassin dynamic adds a layer of psychological tension beyond simpler hidden-role games. Rounds are quick, so a bad game is never a big loss, and a good group can spend hours arguing over reads and accusations.
What we like
- Fast rounds keep energy high across a whole session.
- Merlin/Assassin roles add rich psychological depth.
- Scales well from small to large groups.
- Minimal components make it easy to bring anywhere.
Keep in mind
- Requires a talkative, engaged group to shine.
- Players eliminated from discussion can feel less involved.
- Evil-aligned new players can struggle without prior experience.
Who it's for
Great for ages 13+, groups of 5-10 who enjoy social deduction, bluffing, and lively table talk.
