About the game
Julius Caesar is a two-player card-driven block wargame depicting the Roman Civil War of 49-45 BC, pitting Caesar's veteran legions against Pompey's young forces. Blocks hide unit identity and strength from your opponent, and cards let you move, levy troops, or trigger historical events. Thirteen victory-point towns and cities dot the large Mediterranean map as both sides fight to rule Rome. It's a tense, information-limited duel of maneuver and battle.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's wargaming editors enjoy the fog-of-war tension the block system creates: not knowing your opponent's exact strength until battle makes every clash meaningful. A great entry point into card-driven block wargames for two.
What we like

- Card-driven events add historical flavor and tough choices.
- Deep two-player strategic dueling.
- Large, detailed map immerses players in the era.
Keep in mind
- Three-hour playtime is a heavy commitment.
- Block wargame conventions can intimidate newcomers.
- Strictly two-player limits its use for larger groups.
