About the game
Red November drops players into a gnomish attack submarine where everything is going catastrophically wrong: the reactor is overheating, missiles are pre-igniting, fires and leaks are spreading, and there's precious little vodka left to steady everyone's nerves. Working cooperatively, up to 8 players must divide tasks, race to make repairs, and manage three worsening disaster tracks, Asphyxiation, Heat, and Pressure, before any hits its limit. Each turn spent on an action increases both its chance of success and the number of new complications that follow. If the gnomes can hold out long enough, rescue arrives and everyone wins together.
Hobbli's Notes
A wonderfully absurd cooperative disaster game that leans fully into its slapstick gnome-submarine premise. The escalating tension of the disaster tracks keeps every turn meaningful, and it's one of the rare cooperative games that comfortably supports a full table of 8.
What we like
- Hilarious disaster-movie theme starring vodka-loving gnomes.
- Supports up to 8 players cooperatively.
- Escalating disaster tracks create real, mounting pressure.
- Distinctive real-time-feeling panic without an actual timer.
Keep in mind
- A dominant player can end up directing the whole team's actions.
- Randomness in event escalation can feel harsh.
- Coordination can grow chaotic with a full 8-player group.
Who it's for
Perfect for larger groups of up to 8 players aged 13 and up who enjoy humorous, tense cooperative disaster-management games.
