About the game
Vikings is a fast-playing economic game where, despite the theme, no raiding or exploration actually occurs; instead players compete to buy and place paired ship and island tiles along with meeples across six rounds. A unique rondel pricing wheel determines which tile-meeple pairs are available and at what cost, and players indirectly compete for the best combinations as prices shift. It's a tight, efficient tile-placement and income game from designer Michael Kiesling.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team appreciates Vikings for its clever pricing wheel mechanism, which turns simple tile-buying into an interesting economic puzzle. Despite the Viking theme being mostly cosmetic, the underlying game is a tight, satisfying exercise in resource optimization. A solid pick for Euro gamers who enjoy auction and income-based mechanics.
