About the game
Web of Power sends 3-5 players across medieval Europe to build networks of influence using Monasteries and Advisors. Secure majorities in regions and monastery chains for points, but be careful: the number of Advisors you can place is capped by your monastery presence in that region. Playing across two fast-paced rounds, tight decisions about where to commit your limited pieces define the game. It's a lean, elegant area-influence design from designer Michael Schacht.
Hobbli's Notes
Web of Power is a masterclass in doing more with less: two simple piece types create surprisingly rich tension over regional control. The game moves briskly, rarely overstaying its welcome, and rewards players who can read the board and anticipate rivals' plans. It can feel a touch abstract for players wanting strong theme, but as a pure influence-and-area-majority puzzle it's still one of the tightest in its class.
What we like
- Simple two-piece system creates deep strategic tension.
- Fast-paced two-round structure keeps the game from dragging.
- Rewards careful area-majority planning and timing.
- Scales well across a 3-5 player range.
Keep in mind
- Abstract presentation may leave theme-focused players cold.
- Limited player interaction outside of area contests.
- Two-player play isn't supported.
Who it's for
Ages 12+ strategy gamers who enjoy tight area-majority and influence games; works well for 3-5 players in an hour.
