About the game
Echoes of Time is a 2-4 player strategy card game from designer Simone Luciani in which four elemental factions vie for control of hidden sources of time-bending power. Players assemble a fellowship of characters drawn from ocean, hill, sky, and underground factions, building a fresh deck each game from over a hundred unique cards. A distinctive sliding-tile system tracks when your cards become usable and paces their effects, adding a rhythm-based layer to the usual hand management and tag-matching. It's a strategic, replayable card game with a rich fantasy backdrop.
Hobbli's Notes
Simone Luciani has a strong track record with intricate euro designs, and the sliding-tile timing system here is a genuinely novel way to pace card effects, it's the kind of mechanical hook that rewards careful planning. As a very recent release, it's still building a track record, so exact strategies and balance are still being discovered by the community. Fans of tag-based deckbuilding-lite card games should find plenty to like.
What we like
- Novel sliding-tile system for pacing card effects.
- Over a hundred cards ensure high replayability each game.
- Designed by Simone Luciani, known for well-crafted strategy games.
- Fresh deck construction each game keeps sessions varied.
Keep in mind
- Very new release means limited community feedback and strategy depth so far.
- Multiple factions and tag interactions add setup complexity.
- Fantasy theme is fairly abstract relative to the mechanics.
Who it's for
