About the game
Emberleaf sends Emberlings into an ancient forest to rebuild their home, exploring the wilderness, clearing dangerous areas, and constructing new dwellings for their kin. Its signature "card dancing" system lets you slide hero cards within a moving grid to trigger and charge powerful skill combinations. Alongside tile-placement village building and engine-building recruitment of heroes, space in the forest is limited and rival Emberlings are competing for the same resources. It's a competitive card-and-tile game about growing a fellowship and a village at once.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team is intrigued by the sliding "card dancing" grid: it's a genuinely different way to activate combos compared to typical engine-builders. As a brand-new 2025 release, we haven't yet seen how it holds up over repeated plays.
What we like
- Novel sliding-grid "card dancing" mechanic is genuinely distinctive.
- Thematic village-building layered with tile placement.
- Variable player powers and setups boost replayability.
- Includes a solo mode.
Keep in mind
- The unique grid mechanic requires a real learning curve.
- Competitive tile placement and resource limits can create tension some may dislike.
- As a new release, long-term community support is untested.
Who it's for
Fans of tile-placement and engine-building Euros looking for something mechanically novel; ages 14+, groups of 3-5.
