About the game

Everdell invites players into a charming valley of forest critters building a thriving woodland city across a single year. On your turn, you'll place a worker to gather resources, play a card to expand your growing tableau of critters and constructions, or prepare for the next season. Cards generate resources, unlock abilities, and ultimately score points, with dozens of possible combinations creating near-endless variety in how your city takes shape. The gorgeous illustrated critters and constructions give the whole experience an unusually warm, storybook feel. It's a relaxed yet strategically satisfying blend of tableau building and worker placement.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team is consistently charmed by Everdell's presentation: the critter artwork and tree-shaped board make it an instant table-topper. Beneath the charm is a genuinely well-tuned engine-building game with meaningful strategic choices. Card draw luck plays a real role in which strategies open up, and interaction between players stays fairly indirect. Still a lovely, broadly appealing pick for a wide range of gaming groups.

What we like

  • Stunning artwork and a charming woodland critter theme.
  • Satisfying tableau-building engine with meaningful combinations.
  • Accessible worker placement suits a wide range of gaming groups.
  • Strong solo mode extends its appeal beyond the table.

Keep in mind

  • Card draw luck affects which strategies are available.
