About the game
Wroth is an area-control game for 1-4 players that can be played competitively, cooperatively, or solo as factions battle for dominance over the island of Wroth. Draft action dice to gather resources, move and deploy troops, and unleash your faction's powerful once-per-game abilities to seize key positions. Each faction plays asymmetrically, so strategies that work for one won't necessarily work for another. Games end when a faction reaches 30 victory points or completes its scenario mission, and the whole experience can be taught in 10-15 minutes.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team appreciates how Wroth packs area control, asymmetric powers, and flexible play modes (competitive, co-op, or solo) into a fast-teaching, roughly hour-long package. The dice-drafting engine gives meaningful choices each round without bogging the game down, and the once-per-game abilities create memorable swing moments. As a 2025 release, it hasn't built a long track record yet, but the fundamentals look solid on paper.
What we like
- Flexible modes: competitive, cooperative, or solo.
- Asymmetric factions with distinct once-per-game abilities.
- Fast to teach at 10-15 minutes despite tactical depth.
- Dice-drafting adds a fun resource-management layer.
Keep in mind
- As a brand-new release, long-term replay value is unproven.
- Area-control conflict may not suit players who dislike direct confrontation.
- Scenario-based missions add extra rules overhead to learn.
Who it's for
Suited to gamers ages 13+ who enjoy area-control and asymmetric-power games, playable solo or with up to four players.
