About the game
Doom: The Boardgame pits up to three marines against a player controlling demonic invaders on the Union Aerospace Corporation's Mars base. Marines explore claustrophobic rooms and corridors, fight monsters, collect weapons, and complete mission objectives drawn from a scenario book. Each scenario dictates setup, special rules, and win conditions, giving the game strong variety across sessions. Based on the classic id Software video game, it delivers tense one-versus-many tactical combat.
Hobbli's Notes
Doom: The Boardgame captures the claustrophobic, monster-blasting energy of the video game surprisingly well on the tabletop. The scenario-driven structure keeps things fresh, and the asymmetric invader role gives one player a very different, enjoyable experience. It leans toward a longer, weightier session, so it's best planned as the main event of a game night. Miniature and dice-rolling fans will feel right at home.
What we like
- Asymmetric one-versus-many design gives every player a distinct role.
- Scenario book provides strong variety across multiple playthroughs.
- Faithful, tense recreation of the video game's atmosphere.
- Satisfying dice-driven combat and equipment progression.
Keep in mind
- Long setup and playtime for a single session.
- Can feel imbalanced if the invader player runs away with early momentum.
- Miniature and component management adds table-space overhead.
Who it's for
Fans of tactical dungeon-crawl combat aged 12 and up, ideal for 2 to 4 players including one invader.
