About the game
Fleet: The Dice Game (Second Edition) is a strategic roll-and-write game where 1-4 players return to Ridback Bay across ten rounds split into Boat and Town phases. In each phase, players draft dice in turn order, unlocking boat licenses, wharf buildings, and market bonuses that build toward a bigger fishing and scoring engine. Fishing rounds occur between phases, rewarding players who've built out the right combination of boats and licenses. A fully integrated solo mode lets players compete against Captain Ruth for the best possible score.
Hobbli's Notes
A meatier roll-and-write than most, with genuine strategic tension in the dice-drafting decisions. The solo mode against Captain Ruth is a nice bonus for a game this portable.
What we like
- Strong solo mode with a built-in AI opponent.
- Meaningful dice-drafting decisions each phase.
- Quick setup and teardown for a game with real depth.
- Satisfying fishing and building economy.
Keep in mind
- Dice rolling introduces noticeable luck swings.
- Paper scoresheets require reprints or dry-erase pens.
- Player interaction is fairly limited beyond dice drafting.
Who it's for
Great for fans of roll-and-write and dice-drafting games aged 8+, playing solo or in groups up to 4.
