About the game
Witchstone gathers guild representatives around an ancient magic stone, where players build networks of energy, send out witches, and manage a personal cauldron of crystals to score points over eleven rounds. Domino-shaped tiles depicting magic icons are placed onto your cauldron, triggering chain-reaction actions based on matching icon clusters. You'll extend your network from your starting tower, advance along a pentagram and magic wand for bonuses, and collect prophecy scrolls that reward specific end-game achievements. It's an intricate engine-building puzzle from designers Reiner Knizia and Martino Chiacchiera.
Hobbli's Notes
Witchstone is a dense, satisfying puzzle of engine-building and route-optimization, wrapped in an appealingly mystical theme. Hobbli's team enjoys how the cauldron and domino-tile placement create cascading combos that feel great to pull off once you've learned the icon interactions. It's a strong pick for Euro-strategy fans who enjoy tightly interlocking systems, though our familiarity with the finer balance points of this particular title is still limited.
