About the game
Yellow & Yangtze reimagines the Warring States era of ancient China as an elegant tile-placement duel of civilizations. Players lead five different types of leaders, Governor, Soldier, Farmer, Trader, and Artisan, each accumulating victory points in their own category, but your final score is only as strong as your weakest area. As civilizations expand and tiles connect, conflicts erupt that must be carefully navigated to survive and grow. Sister game to the acclaimed Tigris & Euphrates, it channels the same tense balancing act into a fresh setting. It's a cerebral classic from designer Reiner Knizia.
Hobbli's Notes
Yellow & Yangtze is Knizia at his sharpest: the weakest-category scoring rule forces genuinely difficult trade-offs every turn. It rewards players who can balance greed with caution, and the conflict resolution creates real tension when civilizations collide. A must-try for fans of Tigris & Euphrates looking for a fresh but familiar challenge.
