About the game
Amsterdam reimagines Stefan Feld's Macao with refined card balance and new gameplay elements set among merchants of the turn-of-the-century Dutch capital. Each round you draft district, building, and profession cards, then roll colored dice to gain action cubes placed along a rotating windrose. Careful timing determines when those cubes become available, rewarding players who plan several turns ahead. Delivering goods, constructing buildings, and navigating canals all feed into a satisfying points engine over twelve rounds.
Hobbli's Notes
Amsterdam is classic Feld: a dense web of interlocking systems that rewards forward planning and delayed gratification. Hobbli finds it a worthy, more polished successor to Macao, with gorgeous Klemens Franz art to match. It's a great pick for Euro veterans who love calculating optimal combos.
