About the game
In Bora Bora, players use dice as workers, placing them one at a time to claim one of five to seven available actions each round. Higher dice unlock stronger versions of an action, while lower dice can still block opponents from taking it at all. Across the game you'll build huts, discover fishing grounds, court the favor of gods, and chase multiple scoring tracks toward victory. It's a dense Stefan Feld euro built around clever action-selection tension.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli regards this as one of Stefan Feld's most interesting designs, with the dice-placement action selection creating real push-and-pull between greed and blocking. The many interlocking scoring tracks reward careful planning, though the notable downtime between turns can slow the table at higher player counts.
What we like
- Clever dice-as-worker-placement action selection.
- Multiple viable strategic paths to victory.
- Rich thematic island-settling backdrop.
- High replayability from randomized task and god tiles.
Keep in mind
- Significant downtime between player turns.
- Steep rules overhead for new players.
- Many interlocking scoring tracks can feel overwhelming at first.
