About the game
Aeon's End: Outcasts continues the Expedition campaign system introduced in Aeon's End: New Age, letting players replay their collection of Aeon's End content in a fast-moving campaign format. Working cooperatively, players draft powerful breach mages and battle escalating nemeses using the series' signature deckbuilding mechanics, where players draw fresh hands each turn instead of always shuffling their whole deck. After each battle, players earn new treasures and cards to strengthen their mages, while the nemeses they face grow correspondingly tougher. It's designed to blend seamlessly with other Aeon's End content owners already have. Fans of the cooperative deckbuilding series will find fresh challenges and long-term progression here.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team appreciates how the Expedition format gives ongoing life to the whole Aeon's End collection, turning standalone games into an evolving campaign. The escalating nemesis difficulty keeps veteran players challenged even after dozens of plays. Its unique no-full-deck-reshuffle mechanic remains one of the freshest ideas in cooperative deckbuilding. This entry works best for groups already invested in the series rather than as a first purchase.
What we like
- Innovative deckbuilding system avoids full-deck reshuffling.
- Expedition campaign format extends replayability across the series.
- Strong solo and small-group cooperative play.
- Escalating nemesis difficulty keeps veterans challenged.
Keep in mind
- Best enjoyed with prior Aeon's End content already owned.
- High complexity and campaign structure demand real commitment.
- Less appealing as a completely standalone first purchase.
Who it's for
Best for cooperative deckbuilding fans (14+) already familiar with Aeon's End; great for 1-2 players, still solid up to 4.
