About the game
Beast is an asymmetric hidden-movement game for two to four players set in a mystical northern wilderness, pitting a stealthy monster against a team of hunters tracking its trail. The Beast leaves footprints across forests, swamps, and caverns, forcing hunters to search locations and coordinate their limited actions to corner it before it strikes. Drafting, hand management, and secret unit deployment create a tense cat-and-mouse hunt. Cooperation among hunters is essential, since none of them can match the Beast alone.
Hobbli's Notes
Beast nails the tension of tracking an unseen predator, turning trail-following into a genuine puzzle of deduction and risk. The card-drafting phase before each round adds a layer of resource tension on top of the hunt itself. It asks for patience and careful communication between hunters, making it a rewarding but demanding play for the right group.
What we like
- Hidden-movement tracking creates genuine suspense.
- Asymmetric roles give hunters and the Beast very different experiences.
- Card drafting adds a meaningful resource-tension layer.
- Strong theme reinforced by the mechanics.
Keep in mind
- Requires careful hunter communication or the team can fall apart.
- Higher complexity and playtime limit casual accessibility.
- The Beast player may feel outnumbered without careful balance.
Who it's for
Best for experienced gamers ages 14+ in groups of 2-4 who enjoy tense hidden-movement and deduction games.
