About the game
Scotland Yard casts one player as the elusive Mr. X, moving secretly across a map of London by taxi, bus, or subway, while the rest of the players act as detectives trying to corner him. Mr. X's mode of transport is usually visible, but his exact location is only revealed at certain intervals, creating a thrilling game of deduction and pursuit. Detectives must pool their limited tickets wisely to close the net before Mr. X escapes. This classic hidden-movement design has remained a beloved family favorite since the 1980s.
Hobbli's Notes
Scotland Yard is a genuine classic that still holds up as one of the best hidden-movement games ever made. The tension of guessing Mr. X's location, then seeing your guess confirmed or busted, never gets old. It plays wonderfully as a team exercise for the detectives, encouraging real collaboration and deduction. A must-have gateway game for deduction fans of all ages.
