About the game
CABO (Second Edition) is a quick memory and hand management card game where players try to hold the lowest total value in their four face-down cards. Special power cards let you peek at your own cards, spy on an opponent's hand, or swap cards blindly, all while trying to remember what you hold. When you think your total is low enough, you call 'CABO' to end the round, but everyone else gets one last turn first. This revamped second edition sharpens the rules with new penalties and a redesigned scoring flow, plus fresh artwork throughout.
Hobbli's Notes
CABO is a clever little memory game that punches above its light production values. The tension of not fully knowing your own hand creates fun bluffing moments when you decide to call Cabo early. It plays fast enough for repeat rounds, making it an easy filler between heavier games. The second edition's rule tweaks tighten up some of the original's looser edges nicely.
What we like
- Simple rules make it easy to teach to new players.
- Memory and bluffing elements keep every round tense.
- Short playtime encourages quick repeat games.
- Peek and swap powers add meaningful decision-making to a light framework.
Keep in mind
- Luck of the draw can swing outcomes regardless of memory skill.
- Limited depth for players wanting a longer strategic experience.
- Can feel repetitive over many consecutive rounds.
