About the game

Sushi Go! is a fast-paced card drafting game for 2-5 players who pass hands of sushi-themed cards around the table, grabbing the best combination of dishes before they're gone. Score points for the most sushi rolls, complete sets of sashimi, or triple your nigiri's value with a well-timed wasabi play, and save room for pudding to be crowned dessert champion at game end. Distilled from drafting mechanics like those in 7 Wonders, it takes only a few minutes to teach and about 15 minutes to play. Every round asks you to balance greed with generosity, since the cards you pass could be exactly what an opponent needs.

Hobbli's Notes

Sushi Go! remains one of Hobbli's favorite gateway drafting games: it's simple enough for young kids yet clever enough that experienced gamers enjoy the tight decision-making each round. The charming food-themed art and quick playtime make it an easy fit anywhere. There isn't much strategic depth beyond the drafting puzzle itself, so it can feel thin for gamers seeking longer engagement. A near-perfect filler and family game.

What we like

  • Extremely quick to teach, even to young children.
  • Charming, food-themed art appeals to a broad audience.
  • Card drafting creates clever, tense decisions each round.
  • Short playtime makes it easy to fit into any game night.

Keep in mind

  • Limited strategic depth for gamers wanting a longer, meatier experience.
  • Can feel repetitive after many plays.
  • Little player interaction beyond passing and blocking cards.
