About the game
No Thanks! is a simple, tense card game where players either place a chip to skip a face-up numbered card or take the card (and any chips on it) to avoid pushing their luck further. With a deck numbered 3 to 35 and runs of consecutive cards only counting their lowest value, players must weigh short-term losses against long-term score. It's a quick, endlessly replayable filler that punishes greed and rewards careful counting. Simple rules hide surprisingly sharp decision-making.
Hobbli's Notes
No Thanks! is a masterclass in elegant, minimal design: there's almost nothing to learn, yet every single card creates genuine tension. It scales beautifully from a quick three-player game to a full seven-player table, making it a reliable go-to filler for almost any group. Few games this simple stay this engaging after dozens of plays.
What we like
- Extremely easy to teach and learn in minutes.
- Surprisingly deep push-your-luck tension for such simple rules.
- Scales well across a wide range of player counts.
- Short playtime makes it a great filler or opener.
Keep in mind
- Limited long-term strategic depth for serious gamers.
- Luck of the draw plays a real role in outcomes.
