About the game
Corinth is a roll-and-write game set in the ancient trading hub of the same name, often described as a dice-only take on Yspahan. Each turn, the active player rolls nine dice and sorts them by value, then everyone chooses a level to claim, gathering gold, goats, or delivering goods to their personal market sheet. A steward token moves around a personal scoring grid based on the dice claimed, and clever routing through that grid is where the real points come from. It's a light, tactile game about squeezing the most value out of a shared pool of dice.
Hobbli's Notes
Corinth does a great job translating a worker-placement dice classic into a simple paper-and-pencil format that plays fast. The steward-movement scoring puzzle is the highlight, letting you compound points if you can navigate your grid cleverly. It's easy to teach but still has real decisions each turn, especially around when to pay gold for extra dice. A solid choice for groups that like Mediterranean trading themes and roll-and-write mechanics.
What we like
- Fast setup and teardown thanks to the roll-and-write format.
- Rewards clever route planning on the personal scoring grid.
- Scales well without much added downtime at higher player counts.
- Accessible rules hiding a surprising amount of tactical depth.
Keep in mind
- Heavy reliance on dice rolls can frustrate players who dislike randomness.
- Player interaction is limited to competing for the same dice levels.
- Can feel repetitive over many plays.
Who it's for
Good for families and light-strategy gamers aged 8 and up looking for a quick game night filler.
