About the game
Bosk is an elegant abstract strategy game about nurturing trees through the changing seasons of a national park. In spring, players grow their trees across a grid; in summer, they score for having the tallest presence along rows and columns as hikers pass through. Come autumn, the wind scatters falling leaves in meandering paths that players direct and layer atop one another, and in winter, points are awarded for controlling the most territory in each park region. With gorgeous artwork and a clever push-and-cover leaf mechanic, Bosk offers a fresh spatial puzzle every time you play.
Hobbli's Notes
Bosk pairs a soothing nature theme with genuinely tight area-majority decisions: the moment leaves start overlapping, the tension ramps up fast. We appreciate how each of the four seasons feels mechanically distinct, which keeps the 40-minute playtime from ever feeling repetitive. A lovely pick for gamers who want their abstract strategy dressed up in something beautiful.
What we like
- Beautiful nature theme paired with elegant abstract mechanics.
- Unique four-season structure keeps gameplay fresh throughout.
- Quick to teach despite real strategic depth.
- Area-majority scoring rewards careful spatial planning.
Keep in mind
- Abstract theme may feel dry for players wanting narrative.
- Wind direction luck can swing leaf placement outcomes.
- Two-player games can feel less dynamic than four-player.
Who it's for
Suited to strategy-minded players ages 13 and up looking for a mid-weight abstract game for 2-4 players.
