About the game
Fleet: The Dice Game is a strategic roll-and-write reimagining of the card game Fleet, sending 1-4 players back to Ridback Bay to build fishing fleets and reap their rewards. Across 10 rounds split into Boat and Town phases, players draft dice to unlock license powers, launch boats, catch fish, and construct buildings in the Wharf. Because every unclaimed die still gets used by all players, tension builds as you calculate what to leave behind for your rivals. A fully integrated solo mode lets you compete against Captain Ruth for high scores.
Hobbli's Notes
We appreciate how Fleet: The Dice Game punches above its roll-and-write weight class with meaningful dice-drafting tension rather than simple box-ticking. Leaving the "wrong" die for opponents to use feels genuinely clever. It runs a bit heavier and longer than typical roll-and-write fare, which some casual fans might not expect. A great option for fans of the original Fleet looking for a lighter, faster alternative.
What we like
- Clever dice-drafting where leftover dice benefit everyone equally.
- Strong integrated solo mode against an AI opponent.
- Two distinct phases keep each round feeling varied.
- Fast setup and teardown typical of roll-and-write games.
Keep in mind
- Heavier and longer than many other roll-and-write titles.
- Some strategic depth may be lost without playing the original Fleet.
- Limited player interaction beyond the shared dice pool.
