About the game

Naga Raja is a two-player treasure race set in the temples of ancient India. Each player builds paths through their own shifting maze of room tiles to reach hidden relics, racing to score 25 victory points before their rival: but beware the three cursed relics of Garuda, which mean instant defeat if all are revealed. Dual-use cards let you either throw fate sticks to win new rooms or activate powerful effects that scramble your opponent's temple, swap relics, or force a re-roll. The tension between building your own path and sabotaging your rival's makes every round a tight tactical duel. It's a fast, twisty head-to-head game perfect for two players who enjoy push-your-luck and mind games.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team enjoys how Naga Raja packs constant twists into a tight 30-minute duel: the dual-purpose cards mean you're always weighing a safe move against a disruptive one. Bruno Cathala and Théo Rivière's design leans hard into 'take that' interaction, so it's best for players who enjoy a bit of mutual sabotage. The shifting maze and hidden cursed relics keep tension high right up to the end. It's a great pick specifically for two-player game nights.

What we like

  • Dual-purpose cards create meaningful tactical decisions every turn.
  • Shifting maze and hidden relics keep the tension high throughout.
  • Quick 30-minute playtime with real depth for two players.
  • Beautiful Vincent Dutrait artwork and Indiana-Jones-style theme.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly a two-player game with no scaling for larger groups.
  • Heavy take-that interaction may not suit players who dislike sabotage.
  • Sudden-death loss condition can feel harsh if you're unlucky early.

Who it's for

Ideal for two players aged 9+ who enjoy tactical, take-that games with a bit of push-your-luck tension.
