About the game

Ricochet Robots is less a traditional board game and more a shared real-time puzzle: four color-coded robots sit on a modular grid board, and players race to find the shortest sequence of moves to guide the matching-colored robot to a target. Once a robot starts sliding, it keeps going until it hits a wall or another robot, so solutions often require clever chains of bounces. Whoever shouts out a solution first gets to demonstrate it, and if it's the fewest moves, they score the point. It supports an unusually large number of players since everyone competes simultaneously.

Hobbli's Notes

Ricochet Robots is a brilliant, timeless puzzle experience: the shared real-time solving means huge groups can play together, and the puzzles themselves remain genuinely clever decades after release. It rewards quick spatial thinking over traditional strategy.

What we like

  • Brilliant real-time puzzle-solving that scales to huge groups.
  • No turn order means everyone is engaged at all times.
  • Simple rules but fiendishly clever puzzle solutions.
  • Modular board setup keeps every session fresh.

Keep in mind

  • Real-time pressure can feel intimidating for slower thinkers.
  • Not everyone enjoys the competitive shout-out format.
  • Limited narrative or social role-play elements.

Who it's for

Great for puzzle lovers of all ages, from families to large groups; supports an unusually high player count, ages 10 and up.
