About the game

Eternal Decks is a limited-communication cooperative game where players race to complete stage objectives before any teammate becomes unable to act. Starting with a small five-card deck, players acquire new cards from Eternals, characters each with their own unique eight-card deck, by playing cards, generating jewels, or giving cards to teammates. Strict placement rules govern the shared field, and jewels can negate negative effects triggered by the Eternals. The game escalates across six distinct stages, from collecting points to defeating a boss.

Hobbli's Notes

Based on its design, Eternal Decks looks like an ambitious addition to the limited-communication cooperative puzzle genre, with escalating stages and asymmetric Eternal characters providing a real sense of progression. The mix of deck and bag building with strict field placement rules suggests a satisfying but demanding puzzle. As a brand-new release, we don't yet have extensive community experience to confirm how well its balance holds up across all six stages.

What we like

  • Inventive limited-communication mechanics reward careful team coordination.
  • Escalating six-stage structure gives a strong sense of progression.
  • Asymmetric Eternal characters add variety across playthroughs.
  • Playable either solo or cooperatively.

Keep in mind

  • As a very new release, long-term replayability and balance are still unproven.
  • Restrictive communication rules may frustrate players who prefer open discussion.
  • Limited available data makes some design details hard to verify.
