About the game

Treasure Island casts one player as the cunning Long John Silver, tied up and interrogated by his mutinous crew about the location of his buried treasure. The other players explore the island following, or misreading, his cryptic directions, racing to find the loot before Long John escapes and makes a dash for it himself. Deduction, hidden movement, and clever misdirection drive the tension as the hunt builds toward its climactic chase. It's a lightly thematic game of bluffing and exploration based on the classic pirate tale.

Hobbli's Notes

Treasure Island captures the flavor of its source material nicely, with Long John Silver's sly misdirection creating a fun asymmetric dynamic against the rest of the table. Hobbli's team enjoys how the tension escalates toward the final chase, giving the game a satisfying climax. It's an easy-to-teach pick for groups who enjoy light deduction with a strong pirate theme.

What we like

  • Asymmetric roles create fun, tense social dynamics.
  • Thematic pirate story comes through clearly in play.
  • Accessible rules make it easy to teach newcomers.
  • Exciting climactic chase for the final treasure escape.

Keep in mind

  • One-vs-many structure can feel unbalanced in smaller groups.
  • Deduction puzzle may be too light for veteran strategy gamers.
  • Replay value depends on varying the Long John player.

Who it's for
