About the game
Hunt for the Ring is a two-chapter hidden movement game set in Tolkien's Middle-earth, pitting one player as Frodo and his hobbit companions against up to four players controlling the Nazgûl. The Frodo player secretly plots a route from the Shire to Rivendell while resisting the corrupting pull of the Ring, and the Nazgûl players try to sniff out and intercept the hobbits before they reach safety. The game unfolds across two different boards, first from the Shire to Bree and then from Bree to Rivendell via a narrative journey deck. With gorgeous John Howe artwork and asymmetric tension baked into every turn, it captures the dread of being hunted across a beautifully realized fantasy world. It's a meaty, thematic centerpiece game for Lord of the Rings fans.
Hobbli's Notes
This is one of the better hidden-movement games built around a beloved license, and it earns its reputation by nailing the paranoia of the source material. Watching the Nazgûl players slowly close in while the Frodo player second-guesses every move creates real table tension. It's a heavier commitment at three hours, so it rewards a group that's genuinely invested in the theme and willing to learn its asymmetric rules. For dedicated Tolkien fans, it's a standout.
What we like

- Rich Lord of the Rings theming and artwork.
- Deep asymmetric strategy for both sides.

- Strong production values throughout.
Keep in mind
- Long three-hour playtime is a big commitment.
