About the game
Magic Maze is a real-time cooperative game where players silently control four heroes as they race through a shopping mall to steal equipment for their next adventure, without any talking allowed. Each player can only perform certain actions across all heroes, forcing constant, wordless coordination as the sand timer ticks down. Special escalation rules kick in that increase pressure over time, testing how well a group can read each other's intentions. It's a frantic, fifteen-minute cooperative puzzle unlike almost anything else on the market.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team loves how Magic Maze turns "no talking allowed" into its central, brilliant twist - the frantic silent coordination it produces is unlike any other cooperative game. Sessions are short but intense, making it easy to squeeze in multiple rounds in one sitting. The escalating pressure mechanisms keep even experienced groups on their toes. It's a must-try for anyone looking for a genuinely different cooperative experience.
What we like
- The no-talking rule creates a wonderfully unique cooperative challenge.
- Very short playtime allows for multiple rounds in a session.
- Scales impressively from solo to eight players.
- Escalating rules keep repeated plays feeling fresh and tense.
Keep in mind
- Communication restrictions can frustrate players who prefer traditional co-op discussion.
- High player counts can lead to chaotic, hard-to-follow turns.
- Losing due to miscommunication can feel abrupt.
Who it's for
Ages 8+, great for cooperative game fans who enjoy fast-paced, communication-limited challenges, in groups of 1-8.
