About the game

Based on Brandon Sanderson's young adult novels, The Reckoners casts 1-6 players as a resistance cell fighting to uncover and defeat the tyrannical superpowered Epic known as Steelheart. Using simultaneous, push-your-luck dice rolling, players research and attack Epics scattered across Newcago while trying to prevent the population from being wiped out. Equipment cards and plan tokens let players manipulate dice results and pull off clever combos as threats escalate each round. A tense, narrative-driven cooperative game that rewards careful coordination and risk management.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors enjoy how The Reckoners captures the tension of racing against multiple escalating threats at once, with simultaneous dice rolling keeping every player engaged. Fans of the source novels will appreciate the strong thematic integration alongside solid co-op puzzle-solving.

What we like

  • Strong thematic tie to the source novels
  • Simultaneous play keeps all players engaged
  • Push-your-luck dice mechanic adds tension
  • Scales well from solo to six players

Keep in mind

  • Escalating Epic threats can feel punishing
  • Randomness from dice rolling affects outcomes
