About the game

Risk: Europe reimagines the classic Risk formula in medieval feudal Europe, where players rule as kings building castles, taxing subjects, and battling for control of crowns. Using a hand of secret order cards, players tax and build, or expand and move, layering hidden information onto Risk's familiar territory conquest. Battles are resolved with dice, weighing unit types and troop numbers. Whoever controls seven crowns first, through cities and mission cards, wins this deeper, more strategic take on Risk.

Hobbli's Notes

Risk: Europe's hidden order-card system is a smart evolution of the Risk formula, adding real bluffing and planning that the original lacked. It's still very much a battle-for-territory game, but the medieval kingdom theme and crown-collecting objective give it a fresh identity worth exploring.

What we like

  • Hidden order cards add bluffing depth beyond classic Risk.
  • Distinct factions with unique strengths add asymmetry.
  • Crown-collection objective offers varied paths to victory.
  • Rich medieval theme with detailed miniatures and components.

Keep in mind

  • Three-hour playtime is a significant time commitment.
  • Player elimination and combat luck can frustrate some players.

Who it's for

Good for strategy gamers age 14+ in groups of 2-4 who enjoy territory control and conquest games with added hidden-information depth.
