About the game
Welcome to the Dungeon is a fast-playing push-your-luck bluffing game where players take turns daring each other to enter a dungeon with less and less equipment. Each round you either draw a monster card and add it face-down to the dungeon or de-equip an item, until only one player remains willing to challenge the dungeon with whatever gear they have left. That final challenger flips through the dungeon deck, fighting monsters with their remaining equipment, hoping to survive with at least 1 HP. Win two rounds to claim victory, or lose two and you're eliminated, in this quick, tense game of nerve and negotiation.
Hobbli's Notes
Welcome to the Dungeon packs a surprising amount of psychological tension into a short, simple package; watching opponents slowly strip away their own equipment before your eyes is delightfully squirmy. It plays fast, making it a great filler between heavier games. The elimination structure means eliminated players sit out, which can sting in a longer session with more players. As a light bluffing/push-your-luck game, it's a clever, quick pick for game night.
What we like
- Quick 30-minute playtime makes it a great filler game.
- Clever push-your-luck tension as players strip their own equipment.
- Simple rules make it easy to teach to new players.
- Multiple included character card sets add some variety.
Keep in mind
- Player elimination can leave losing players sitting out.
- Limited strategic depth beyond bluffing and risk assessment.
- Best with lower player counts; can feel less tense with only two players.
