About the game
Castellion is a tile-laying game set in the Oniverse, where players build a castle's defenses against three waves of monster attacks. Each turn, you flip a tile and either use its special ability or add it to your growing castle, forming towers, keeps, and ranks that each provide different defensive benefits. Playable solo or with two, the game challenges you to balance immediate tile abilities against long-term castle structure. Survive all three monster attacks with a strong enough base and you win.
Hobbli's Notes
Part of the Oniverse family of small, elegant solo-friendly puzzle games, Castellion delivers a satisfying push-your-luck tile-placement challenge in a tight 30-minute package. It's low-fuss and quick to teach, though its narrow two-player cap and light theme mean it won't be everyone's centerpiece game.
What we like
- Excellent solo mode with genuine strategic depth.
- Quick to teach and quick to play.
- Very low downtime keeps turns snappy.
- Tile abilities create interesting tension between immediate and long-term value.
Keep in mind
- Limited to only one or two players.
- Thin fantasy theme layered over an abstract puzzle.
- Can feel repetitive across many plays.
Who it's for
Well suited to solo puzzle fans and casual two-player groups aged 10 and up looking for a quick, low-downtime game.
