About the game
Quarriors! is a dice-building game where players roll and collect dice representing Creatures and Spells, summoning monsters to battle and casting spells to earn Glory. Each turn, players draw and roll six dice from their personal bag, using generated Quiddity to capture more powerful dice (Quarry) from the shared Wilds. It combines the deckbuilding structure of games like Dominion with the tactile speed of dice, resulting in fast, chaotic 30-minute rounds.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli remembers Quarriors as one of the pioneers of dice-building: a genre it essentially kickstarted. It's frenetic and fun, though the dice luck is more pronounced than in card-based deckbuilders.
What we like
- Fast, dynamic dice-building gameplay.
- Quick setup and short 30-minute playtime.
- Combines deckbuilding strategy with the speed of dice rolling.
- Variable Wilds setup keeps games fresh.
Keep in mind
- Heavy dice luck may frustrate players who prefer pure strategy.
- Take-that elements can create direct conflict some players dislike.
- Smaller pool of dice types compared to later dice-building games.
Who it's for
Fun for deckbuilder and dice-game fans, teens and adults, in groups of 2-4, looking for a quick strategic game.
