About the game
Dice Throne pits players against each other in fast, dice-driven combat duels, each wielding a unique hero with its own set of five dice, abilities, and upgrade cards. Roll dice to trigger attacks and abilities, then spend combat points on cards that unleash powerful effects, status conditions, and hero upgrades. Games scale from 1v1 duels up to team battles and free-for-alls with 2-6 players. With dozens of asymmetric heroes across expansions, Dice Throne offers endless different match-ups.
Hobbli's Notes
Dice Throne nails that fighting-game-in-a-box feeling: rolling and rerolling dice to line up devastating combos is endlessly satisfying, and every hero plays completely differently. It's fast enough for repeat matches in an evening but has real depth in reading your opponent and managing resources. The huge range of heroes, especially with expansions, means the game keeps growing with your group.
What we like
- Highly asymmetric heroes keep matches fresh and varied.
- Fast dice-driven combat creates exciting swings and combos.
- Scales from intense 1v1 duels to chaotic team battles.
- Expandable with many additional heroes and sets.
Keep in mind
- Take-that elements can feel harsh for players who dislike direct conflict.
- Balance between heroes can vary.
- Analysis paralysis is possible when optimizing dice rerolls.
Who it's for
Great for teens and adults who enjoy competitive dice games and light player-vs-player combat; works well for 2 players up to small groups of 6.
