About the game
Roll Player challenges you to build the ultimate fantasy hero by drafting and placing dice to shape your character's race, class, alignment, skills, and equipment. Every choice, from a Dwarf Barbarian to an Elf Cleric, has to work together strategically to maximize your final Reputation score. Along the way you'll purchase weapons and armor, train new skills, and discover hidden traits that flesh out your adventurer's story. It's a clever dice-drafting game that turns character creation itself into the entire game.
Hobbli's Notes
Roll Player is a delightfully original concept: instead of playing through an adventure, you're crafting the hero who'll go on one, and the dice-drafting puzzle underneath is genuinely satisfying. It's a great pick for RPG fans who love character building but don't always have time for a full campaign.
What we like
- Unique concept of building a character instead of playing one.
- Satisfying dice-drafting puzzle with meaningful tradeoffs.
- Strong fantasy theme with charming artwork.
- Solo mode available for players wanting to practice alone.
Keep in mind
- Drafting can create some downtime waiting for dice to come around.
- Character-building focus may feel abstract for players wanting direct combat.
Who it's for
Great for ages 10+ fantasy and RPG fans who enjoy dice-drafting puzzles; best with 3-4 players in about 90 minutes.
