About the game
Nuns on the Run sends a group of mischievous novices sneaking through a grand abbey at night in pursuit of their secret desires, while the Abbess and Prioress patrol to catch them in the act. Novices track their own secret movement on hidden paper sheets, trying to avoid line of sight while collecting keys and treasures along the way. The patrolling players move along fixed paths but can break off to chase down anyone they spot or hear. It's a tense game of hidden movement and deduction wrapped in a comedic religious-satire theme, supporting up to eight players in team-based roles.
Hobbli's Notes
The hidden-movement cat-and-mouse tension here is genuinely fun, and the tongue-in-cheek 'secret wish' theme keeps things light. Bookkeeping on the paper sheets can slow down the pace, and players who get caught early may sit out a while, which is worth knowing going in. Best enjoyed with a group that doesn't mind a little downtime for a lot of sneaking-around fun.
What we like
- Quirky humorous theme of sneaking novices through an abbey.
- Hidden movement creates genuine suspense and tension.
- Supports large groups of up to eight players.
- Team-based asymmetric roles add variety to each game.
Keep in mind
- High downtime for waiting or caught players.
- Paper-and-pencil bookkeeping can slow the pace.
- Dice rolling luck can offset strategic planning.
Who it's for
Fun for larger groups ages 10 and up who enjoy hidden-movement deduction games with a humorous streak.
